chrisoa, the crazy canadian
Here's a guy who I tried to buy an old Star Trek VHS from ("Amok Time" to be exact). Anyway, through emails he turned out to be a pretty angry, kind of psychotic-seeming guy. So we exchanged bad reviews and I eventually got my tape a month late. Another person (named Dan) who had a similar experience with him while trying to buy an old pack of Wacky Packages read my bad review of him and decided to forward me some of the emails he exchanged with the same guy. I decided to include these here over mine since this is a better, prolonged version of my experience with "chrisoa".

a)Mail takes 1-2 weeks from the States to here and vice versa.

b)You paid by personal cheque! So the cheque must clear before the item is sent! My auction CLEARLY states cheques may take up to 21 business days to clear! Your item is actually shipping this weekend, PRIOR to receiving clearance from my bank. If I were to hold it the full time my bank insists upon it would not ship for an additional 2 weeks!

If you do not like terms as stated in an auction do not bid. If you would actually pay attention to the terms and e-mail questions before bidding, things would run so very smoothly and I would not have to waste my time writing this.

If you want something to ship sooner, pay by money order.

What is so difficult here?

You are a nasty somebody! I didn't need you to be an asshole. I asked a simple question? My check cleared 10 days ago, if you would like proof, I can send it to you. If you need to hold such a small check from someone with my rating, then you are in the wrong business! If I am wasting your time as the customer, then I am sorry. Hold them as long as you like, but when I ask for a status, kindly give me one nicely.

You did not 'ask'. You were VERY VERY rude. If you want someone to reply nicely try treating them nicely. You made arrogant bold suppositions. AND YES I AM TIRED OF RUDE IGNORANT PEOPLE LIKE YOU WHO INDEED WASTE MY TIME, PEOPLE WHO RESORT TO PROFANITY AFTER THEY INITIATED A RUDE MESSAGE. You are obviously an ignorant person. My bank only verifies a cheque is clear after 21 business days. I ship after two weeks in good faith. It would cost money to inquire prior-to.

I reserve the right in all my auctions not to deal with people who act presumptuous, flippant, rude and egotistical and then are surprised when they get a measured response. You're lucky I didn't resort to your gutteral vocabulary...no rather I am lucky I am not as low a person as you. I don't deal with people who resort to your language. Your money will be returned to you in full. DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT BIDDING ON MY AUCTIONS AGAIN.

Your e-mails have now been blocked from my system.

Forunately 99% of my customers are decent, kind people who phrase questions politely.

You don't give up do you? I am trying to be nice after you misread my first email and attacked me. Trace what you want where you want, if you want trouble, then fine. I have been thru this before. Your name calling is humerous! I will be calling you on the phone Monday so that we can try to straighten this out like 2 grown ups but if you want to go at each other for some reason, then I am game.
I like your telephone message of the Bev hillbillies!

Have a great weekend!

I have decided to send your parcel. I want you to be clear that it is being sent only because the third party it was sold for needs the money and also, as I mentioned earlier, because you have wasted enough of my time.

You are also being warned, without prejudice, that the dissemination of libelelous and slanderous information is a criminal offence. Necessary traces have been established with various service providers.

The only thing you have proven by all your actions is that you are indeed an immature, egotist, who fancies himself a clever person. How sad you are.

hihat, the enthusiast
This guy was very, very interested in the amp I was selling but the ad I placed did not give a lot of detail about the unit. Unfortunately I did not save my outgoing messages so I can only provide summaries for those.

Subject: Pioneer SA7000?
To: mike

Hello,
You do not state much in your description. Does the Amp work? Also, do you have any paperwork, manual, or original box etc...Any scratches on the Amp face, you photos show a Pioneer SA-7700 but not too close to the face plate I am not complaining, after, all I have only 53 feedback ratings all positive and I use a camera that can take a close up of the skin tissue cells. But I do not expect anyone to look at an amp like that, but there are a few things that you can say... My wife asked me to email you about it.I have a SA-7700 when they came out I purchase on new also the Pre-amp SC-7700 also the SC-700 Pre-amp and the SA-700 and SA 500 amps tuners and pre-amps... All purchased brand new when I was younger. I still have all the receipts, paperwork and boxes that they came in...But most importantly, they have never given me any trouble...No problems and they sound great...Maybe not as great as my McIntosh stuff with tubes nor my Crown stuff with Tubes at time...But for solid state....She wants another SA-7700 that is in as good a shape as ours for here Room, that she works in...And she already purchased the JBL speakers for that room, too, and is using my Spec 1 & 4,and I want them back, and out of her reach... So, she found this SA-7700 to be sort of an eye catcher, and less controls than the Spec 1 & 4 and also, less worry for me. I purchased that set up new also. I have the all the paperwork with them. I run them into Goodman speakers, these are rare and only mostly used in Animals like the Vox SuperBeatles Amplifiers and PA systems for Musical Sounds from Professional Musicians like myself...
So what is the story on your SA-7700?
Hey...
?
hihat

I wrote him back with the basic specs of the amp. I Didn't really say much in my email except for a dry list of the facts about the unit. I did mention that I had cleaned the circuits recently.

Thank you for your quick email response and the great attitude. You really need to do this in you description. About the power, loudness etc.. Not the cleaning of course. Image a song without to many words...Not to much fun if half the song is left out and leaves you hanging there, and it is a song you heard before, and someone else, comes along, and not only sings it poorly, but then has the nerve to leave out some of the words. So, be forceful and sell away, just as if the SA-7700 is a one on one sale and you are selling to a single person. Telling them that the loud volume is great, and tonal qualities are all there, without distortion..Clean and loud. Loud Clean Highs, Mids and Extra Loud lean bass. I am sure you know that when you put the loudness switch it is for low volume listening, due to the fact that the human ear cannot hear the low frequencies, so this is an added feature that was put into all the Pioneer Amp back then...And when you crank it up, it gives the Bass a really nice full effect...
HUH ????
Thanks,
I will try to keep within the bidding, sounds like a nice quality amp to own.

Best Regards,
hihat
I told him I was selling the amp because I was so attached to it that when my family home burnt down, I ran in and saved the amp, leaving my kid brother to temporarily fend for himself. As a result, my kid brother lost the use of his legs. I was only selling it because I felt it was time to move on.

Subject: Re: Pioneer SA7000? ERROR SA-7700....
To: mike

Hello, I must tell you that MY Wife is the High Bidder from the very First email to you. I wonder if the amp smells from smoke? Besides that, how about your brother? Also, why would you want to sell it if the amp has the past of your life? Good or bad, it should not make any difference, at all to you, if you need the amp. But if you knew that I believe each and second that you have that amp listed it is that equal time leaving you. It seems that you would not ever believe a story, if I told you, the same story, but truthful as life is. It is filled with these hard to imagine true to life details of, everyday life that we all go through. The hours of time that you think you made an error in stating anything about cleaning the amp, is honesty. In sales, the sales people are not honest. It seems that has left a very bitter taste in my life. But get this, short and brief. In July of 1986 I was hit in my own driveway as a pedestrian, by a small pick up truck. This person was an employee of the local state attorney's office, I found out later. This person disabled me for the rest of my life. This person worked for Janet Reno's office. Janet Reno was then the local State Attorney. Her office has been in complete denial about the entire injury. That now after so many years, and all of our children & and my wife had seen this happen. The police covered it up. False case numbers that went to nothing, also later on I found out this person was moonlighting, as a civil process paper server, and had a full time job of....Guess what. A Paramedic. He actually hit me intentionally, with his truck and left the scene..( I lost several teeth, and my tongue was almost cut off...I was taken care of by a really good surgeon as fas as my tongue goes..But I still have a huge gash half way back, and it is left to right...it is a bid deep gouge now...I cannot taste food really..My tongue sort of just burns and tingles.) This Guy that hit me later on came back to the scene and was not arrested. ( county employee) ( big cover up too ))So, true as it may not sound to you. It happened. I am on my back, left side most of the 24 hour day. I use .crutches to walk with...I cannot walk without them, and I can only sit on my left side, laying on several cushions..leaning on my left elbow. Yes, I cannot do much. I cannot play the drums anymore. I seem to be in a new world. It is just this world that hardly many people know. A world of 24 hours a day 7 days a week, pain, numbing, and burning sensations that come and go.. I have so may areas involved in my spine, that were injured, that I will not bore you with this any further. But, I have a son that is a very good drummer. He is our youngest child. My father played the drums also. But, as far as What I can and cannot due..I cannot do anything with my wife..I am out of commission! also, I listen to music often. Also, I try to make my son listen to himself more than he does, also I try to make himself listen to other drummers while he plays along. This is what is difficult to achieve. Music & this volume loud enough to hear with a clean sounding amp. Also, he has headphones to listen with, but, I would like him to have a bit more power to listen to himself without the head phones entirely. He listens with my stereo, and this is loud..& clear..But, he needs to have his own area of equipment. I have obtained exact equipment that I have for him. I am not saying that he has his own items that are loud..enough to play without headphones, but he still uses the headphones. I am trying to get him involved in having his own recordings of himself, playing as he practices, with other music. Yes, he is in a Band, and he does play well. But the idea of having his own drumming, ( like in a recording studio) heard at a level that he can hear clean, and without the cymbals, hampering his drumming... And for him to hear the music together mixed down into the headphones, will be his best way to improve. I was never, ever happy with the way I sounded. I was always asking everyone, if I sounded OK???? Years and years of playing professionally and while on TV and in TV commercials, I always had doubt..It was terrible..I would not listen to myself, due to the fact that I thought that I did not sound good enough. What a fool I was..Here I was around and with the most popular musicians and I did not know if I sounded good enough of not..I was working as a drummer, steady as a profession since I was 13 years old. I had steady work..I was in a lot of bands..I practiced as much as I could...that was the best time for me... I could get in an area where the sound with my drums would not bother anyone else. The Volume was not loud enough for anyone to call and complain..I could play to any music I wanted to..I used Pioneer..Yes Pioneer was my system. With these huge speakers that were removed from the amplifiers that the Beatles used. VOX SUPERBEATLES, these used GOODMAN speakers. I have them in HOME made cabinets. These were hand made by me..each piece of wood and the inside and outside finish..I installed these huge 15 Inch in each cabinet with a 12 inch and a tweeter horn...All though It is heavy...the Heaviest magnets I have ever seen on speakers..The Pioneer Amp that I started with has never, ever given me any trouble.. I do not leave the amp plugged in when it is not in use..So any thunderstorm will not hit the ground and burn it out... But it drives is hard and loud enough for me to take it in the recording studio, when I was not disabled, and set up my drums...Play anything I wanted to... and it would have plenty of volume for me.. But my some needs more...I think he needs to have what I did not have...He needs the full time home use of an entire recording studio, style at home, for him to hear his drumming while he plays..and records it..so he can go back and listen.. So, my wife has been helping out...Also she has spinal problems.. She was thrown from here horse in the South side suburbs in Chicago..She also teased her horse and teased him with sweet feed and he bumped his nose into face and snapped her head back..She receive neck injury really bad..Her surgeries are what is called. Failed spinal surgery...So, the both of us have back problems...she can at least drive a little bit..I cannot stand to even go into the car for a trip or even down the road..the bumps hurt too much... So, it is I ....me....the person that is pushing this Pioneer SA-7700 for them to use...My wife to use in here sewing area where my son has his drums set up... He is 24 hours a day....a full all out Drummer Dude...He has had a lot of well known drummers tell him how great he is...He tells me how great he is.. I keep telling him, to listen to his own drumming and suggested as I stated above. So, I have been trying to financially figure out a way for him to have this set up, that will work without, loosing my shirt...I am disabled..disabled people do not get much for expenses..I depend on the Gov't for me day to day life...So, it is sort of a little by little pace for me to put this together for him..He just does not know how to pace himself..He is young and is a really good person..He has helped me quite a bit.. After all, I would need a live in Nurse if it were not for him..So, I am trying like all HELL to get the right items that will work...I think the Pioneer SA-7700 will work out fine...I hope it does not smell to badly of smoke... I know my wife bid on it..But, it smells of smoke, they will go nuts..I mean nuts..Nobody here smokes..I know that other sellers email me that they use air machines in the same room with the amp with all sorts of things to get the cigarette smell out.. or tobacco smell out.. Please do not think that there was not bid... My wife is bidding and I am going to set the alarm, for her to make sure that she is up, when the auction comes to an end...
Best Regards.

Sincerely,
hihat
I wrote back telling him it didn't smell of smoke and that I had just cleaned it.

Mike Young,
Now, My wife reads your email...Now, she says..."Wow, did I bid on an Amplifier that smells like it had a fire in it?" OK, Mike, I let her at the email, see how woman are. I told here that you let it air out for a really long time. Said, "I read his email, and it did not say that, what is going on here?" " Is this a prank?" "Are you guys trying to pull a prank on me?" OK, Now Mike, you need to email her a short not about the performance and smell..Please.. OK, that would be nice. She thinks that there is something wrong with the amp all together, and she says. "OK, now you are going to stick me with a smelly amp or an amp that has trouble, huh!" I told her that it has been cleaned up... She told me that if she wins this amp in the auction and she receives it, and it has trouble and stinks, that she would just get on a Jet and fly to Chicago and go to your house and knock on your door!" See, how woman are Mike..Do you know any? Are you married..? Well, that is her final word..IT BETTER BE CLEAN AND WORK PERFECT OR I AM JUST GOING TO FLY TO CHICAGO & ON AND ON AND ON???"""" SO, I would appreciate an email from you on the smell and the amp, as to it works and looks so great...your honest opinion, and be honest, Mike. She is a tough woman. I mean she is beautiful and tough...She would think nothing about taking a bunch of pain killers and getting on a Jet to Chicago and knock on your door. I told her, the Guy would pass out..!!! He would say, Oh my God, I have never seen a woman more beautiful than this in my entire life..Who are you? Then she would tell you...Then you would hear this bitching and yelling, and how dare you insult me...on and on...I mean yes, all my friends and all the people cannot keep their eyes off of her.. But she is a tough cookie. I will make sure that I do not allow her in this transaction to get the addressee am sure we will try to outbid anyone else within reason..
But does it smell, Mike..like a Housefire still???
Really?

hihat....
I assured him that I had just cleaned it.

I was trying to bid, but the system would say timed out error.
What is up with that?
We both were trying for a 10 minute window into the end and put our bid at $70.00 and then when we would do the pass word and submit, and it would say connection timed out..there was 10 minutes left in the auction.
We kept doing that until it was over,

What crap...
